Dominik Mysterio’s transformation into a heel has been one of the best developments in his career, as he really found his stride with the role of a devious heel. This was especially evident during his entrance at WrestleMania 39, and he has now opened up about how that memorable entrance came together.

While speaking on the No Contest podcast, Dominik Mysterio revealed how his unique entrance at WrestleMania 39 came together in an unexpected way. He stated that he didn’t know about the plans until about two weeks before the event. He remembered finishing up a Monday Night Raw when Triple H pulled him aside and asked if he had heard about the entrance planned for him at Mania.

Mysterio had no idea what he was talking about, as no one had mentioned it to him. Triple H then told him that the next morning, he would be flying to New York to film something for the event.

“Honestly, it was, uh, it came about in such a crazy way because I didn’t know about it until I want to say two weeks before Mania. I remember we finished a Monday Night Raw, or I got to a Monday Night Raw, and boss, boss pulls me aside, Triple H, and he goes, ‘Hey, have you heard about, uh, the entrance we have planned for you at Mania?’ I was like, ‘I have no idea what you’re talking about. No one said anything to me.’ He goes, ‘Oh, okay.’ He said, ‘Tomorrow morning, you’ll fly to New York and you’ll film something for Mania.’ I was like, ‘Okay, cool.'”

When Mysterio arrived, he was taken to an empty, massive prison where he filmed his entrance segment. On the day of the show, after seeing the video package, Mysterio initially felt a bit disappointed. He wished he could have had a more traditional, grand entrance down the big ramp.

However, after reflecting on it, he realized that his entrance was special in its own right. He noted that not everyone gets a memorable entrance, and he was grateful for the unique experience. For his second WrestleMania, having his own entrance with the Patty Wagon and handcuffs, alongside the entire video package, felt like a huge blessing. Mysterio believes that this entrance will live on in people’s memories for years to come.

“Then I show up, there’s this massive prison, an empty prison that I ended up going and filming at, and like, it was like this whole thing. I remember, like, the day of the show, once the video package and everything came out, my original thought was I was a bit bummed out because I was like, ‘Man, I wish I could’ve done like, like the big ramp, big Mania entrance.’ But then, like, the more I sat and thought about it, and I was like, ‘Man, no, like, f*** that, like this is special. Like, I have a special entrance for myself that, like, everyone goes down the ramp, right? But not everyone has a memorable entrance.’ Like, and on my second WrestleMania, you know, to have my own entrance with the Patty Wagon in handcuffs, like the whole video package. Like, honestly, it was, uh, it was a huge blessing to just be a part of that, man. Because I, I really feel like that entrance is gonna, is gonna live forever.”

Dominik Mysterio has also set the conditions for considering Rey Mysterio his father again, stating that Rey would need to publicly admit his defeat in a dramatic way. Nonetheless, Dominik Mysterio’s entrance at WrestleMania 39 truly set him apart from the rest and he wouldn’t change anything about it now.
