The wrestling world is flexing its financial muscle, with Variety’s latest “Dealmakers” list shining a spotlight on some of the biggest power players in the industry. AEW’s Tony Khan took center stage, not only for his savvy negotiations but also for a valuation that places his company among the elite in combat sports.
According to Variety, AEW is now valued at over $2 billion, making it the third-most-valuable combat sports organization worldwide. This revelation comes hot on the heels of Tony Khan’s massive multi-year media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, worth an estimated $185 million annually. The agreement ensures AEW’s flagship programs, Dynamite and Collision, continue airing on TBS and TNT while also streaming live on Max. Variety emphasized AEW’s groundbreaking position as “the first professional wrestling promotion to simulcast events weekly on top cable channels and a top streaming platform.”
While AEW basks in its newfound valuation, WWE wasn’t left out of the spotlight. Nick Khan and TKO executives Ari Emanuel, Mark Shapiro, and Andrew Schleimer were also named dealmakers for their decade-long, $5.2 billion partnership with Netflix. Despite WWE’s massive global reach, it’s AEW’s meteoric rise and billion-dollar valuation that have people talking.
Tony Khan’s bold moves continue to redefine the landscape of professional wrestling, and the $2 billion figure only adds to AEW’s growing legacy. With its dual presence on cable and streaming platforms, AEW is solidifying its place as a juggernaut in both wrestling and entertainment.
