WWE confirmed the main event for the Netflix premiere of Monday Night Raw, and it’s a matchup that’s been years in the making.
CM Punk will face off against Seth Rollins in what’s shaping up to be one of the most intense main events in Raw history. The announcement was made during the Raw on Netflix Kickoff Special streamed on YouTube Wednesday, leaving fans talking with excitement.
Michael Cole broke the news, settling the speculation about which match would close the show on January 6, 2025. While Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa was also announced for the same night, Punk vs. Rollins has been given the honor of main eventing the monumental debut.
This showdown between Punk and Rollins has been brewing for years. The seeds were planted back in 2019 during Punk’s stint on the short-lived WWE Backstage. After Punk’s return at Survivor Series last year, fans clamored for the long-awaited clash. While the initial plans called for a WrestleMania faceoff for the World Heavyweight Championship, Punk’s torn biceps delayed the dream match.
Over the past few weeks, tensions between the two have reached a fever pitch. Punk returned from a brief hiatus to find Rollins locked in a rivalry with Bronson Reed, but an injury sidelined Reed, leaving Rollins without a dance partner. Enter Punk, whose confrontations with Rollins on Raw have escalated into full-blown chaos, including a pull-apart brawl earlier this week.
Now, with the stakes higher than ever, Punk vs. Rollins is set to deliver a showdown that could redefine Raw as it kicks off the Netflix era.
