Jaime Hawn, the ex-girlfriend of former AEW producer BJ Whitmer, is calling out All Elite Wrestling and its legal team for what she describes as a failure to handle her case with empathy and care.
After Whitmer’s arrest in June 2023 for first-degree strangulation and second-degree burglary, Hawn initially found hope in AEW’s swift response. However, she says that her fight for justice and survival has since been derailed by mishandling, leaving her homeless and fighting to keep custody of her children.
The trouble began when Whitmer attacked Hawn in her home, leaving her physically and emotionally scarred. “I was brutally assaulted,” she wrote in her GoFundMe plea, “and then robbed of any chance of justice when Chris Peck breached the terms of the very NDA he forced me to sign at one of my most desperate moments.”
After Whitmer’s arrest, Hawn reached out to AEW’s Chief Legal Officer Megha Parekh, desperate for support. Parekh responded quickly, terminating Whitmer’s employment and offering Hawn resources like therapy, financial assistance, and security measures. AEW even explored policies to address domestic violence in the wrestling industry.
Things took a turn in September 2023 when AEW assigned Hawn’s case to Chris Peck, a member of the company’s legal team. Hawn claims Peck showed little compassion, forced her to relive her trauma by resending evidence and re-explaining her case, and ultimately undermined her legal battle. “Peck blatantly lied to the defense attorney and prosecution team,” Hawn alleged, saying his actions negatively affected the outcome of Whitmer’s sentencing and her ability to recover.
Hawn also accuses Peck of breaching the NDA she signed, damaging her credibility and her fight for justice. “AEW has had ample opportunity and time to address and take responsibility for Peck’s actions, yet they have done nothing, putting me in the most vulnerable position imaginable,” she wrote.
In November 2023, her situation became dire. Hawn lost her car, which had served as her shelter, leaving her and her three children homeless. She now faces a CPS investigation and the possibility of losing her children due to her inability to find stable housing.
Her GoFundMe campaign, which aims to raise $10,000, outlines her needs:
So far, $600 has been raised, but Hawn’s story continues to highlight what she calls AEW’s failure to uphold their initial promises. She emphasized that her outreach to AEW was never about harming the company but about seeking justice and policy changes to prevent similar situations in the future.
“Not only was I failed by AEW after the glimmer of hope they provided after my initial outreach,” she wrote, “I was failed by a broken lazy legal system.”
Hawn’s case has sparked outrage among fans, many of whom are calling on AEW to revisit the situation and provide the help she desperately needs. As of now, AEW has not issued a statement regarding her claims or Chris Peck’s alleged actions.
