Jimmy Jacobs might be making his way back to AEW, just months after stepping away from Tony Khan’s company. The former Ring of Honor creative mind originally joined AEW in June 2023 as a key writer but parted ways earlier this year. Now, Konnan has stirred the pot, claiming Jacobs’ return is on the horizon.
During an appearance on the Keepin’ It 100 Official podcast, Konnan dropped the alleged news, crediting a “very reliable source” for the inside scoop. “Yeah, but I think he’s coming back. I believe so, yeah. I don’t know if that’s hot news, but it’s pretty good. It’s news that was told to me from a pretty good source,” Konnan revealed.
The conversation kicked off when Konnan and Disco Inferno discussed how Tony Khan could better utilize Ring of Honor. Konnan even suggested Jacobs or Sonjay Dutt take over as ROH booker, a move he believes would shake things up. Disco chimed in, pointing out Jacobs wasn’t with AEW anymore, but Konnan’s follow-up has fans wondering if a comeback is already in motion.
Dave Meltzer previously reported Jacobs’ departure was due to burnout rather than conflict or performance issues, with AEW’s demanding travel schedule taking a toll. However, Meltzer also noted the door was left open for Jacobs to return in the future—and it looks like the future might be now.
If Jacobs does make his AEW return in 2025, his experience and creative vision could inject fresh energy into Tony Khan’s Ring of Honor brand. For now, fans are left speculating whether this “reliable source” is on the money.
