The War Raiders are back on top of WWE’s tag team division, and they’re letting the world know just how much their monumental victory means to them.

Erik and Ivar dethroned Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh on the December 16 episode of Monday Night RAW, capturing the WWE World Tag Team Championships in an emotional main event. After the match, WWE cameras caught up with the new champions, who opened up about the long and brutal journey that brought them to this moment.

Ivar, clearly overwhelmed by the win in his hometown of Boston, reflected on the struggles that defined their careers. “It’s been a long, vicious, brutal, trying road. Not only the last 5 years but our entire careers,” he said. “The setbacks, the heartaches, the disappointments, the failures, the surgeries — just everything we’ve been through. To be here tonight, we are in my hometown, in front of all my family and friends, it couldn’t be more emotional and perfect for me to know that the things we did got us here today.”

Erik opened up about the hardships that tested their resilience both inside and outside the ring. “There were points in the last 5 years, in the last 10 years, where both of us were told more than once that we’d never wrestle again, we might never walk again. I might not be able to hold my sons,” Erik revealed. “Through all that, we’re still here. Through all that, we have these [tag titles]. I don’t think there is anything I could ever say to encapsulate what that means to us as performers, as professionals, or as people.”

The victory was more than just another title change—it was a testament to their grit, perseverance, and refusal to give up when the odds were stacked against them. For the War Raiders, this moment marks a triumphant return to dominance after years of setbacks.
