Saturday Night’s Main Event returned to the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, and there was a lot to unpack from the show. The event included a few title matches, including Liv Morgan putting her Women’s World Title on the line.
Liv Morgan put her Women’s World Championship on the line against IYO SKY. The Damage CTRL member, who recently turned babyface as part of the Survivor Series: WarGames build, earned her title shot by winning a battle royal.
This match was the second of the night, right after Drew McIntyre beat Sami Zayn to kick off the show. This match got the crowd going from the opening bell, and they took a commercial break right after IYO Sky nailed a dive off the top rope to the floor on Morgan.
After a hard fought back-and-forth match, after Liv Morgan nailed an Oblivion to get a clean pinfall. Morgan pulled this off after she got her feet up and nailed IYO Sky during her Over The Moonsault.
Liv Morgan’s celebration didn’t last long, because Rhea Ripley came out to make her presence known. She stood next to Morgan and stared a whole into her and the WWE Women’s World Title. They obviously have unfinished business.
Morgan left the match as the champion, but she may be banged up. Michael Cole made reference to how she may have broken her nose during the match thanks to a knee to the face from IYO Sky.
Liv Morgan is riding high with a 200+ day reign as Women’s World Champion after she won the title from Becky Lynch at King & Queen of the Ring 2024 in Saudi Arabia. She has been able to avoid all challengers, including Rhea Ripley, to keep that title. Only time will tell how much longer she has for her reign.
