TNA Wrestling has been through a lot of changes over the last year. Not only did they go back to their old name after going as Impact Wrestling for years, but they also forged quite a talent exchange with WWE. At this point, you never know who will show up next, especially when it comes to JBL.
TNA set attendance records with Slammiversary 2024 and Bound For Glory. Interest in the promotion continues to grow as fans tune in to see what surprises TNA has in store.
On Something to Wrestle, JBL was asked about TNA’s current momentum. Having made several appearances for the promotion, JBL compared TNA’s pay-per-view events to WWE’s premium live events, noting that TNA is meeting the standards set by the larger company.
“I also think that TNA, they have just got some really good talent right now. That Joe Hendry is as over as anybody I’ve seen. It’s unbelievable how much that young guy is over, and Nic Nemeth, I’ve called most of Nic’s matches. I was doing commentary for his matches. I was there for the cash-in after WrestleMania, one of the greatest things I’ve ever been a part of. Nic’s never had a bad match. Then you throw in an incredible, iconic tag team that’s still as good as they’ve ever been like the Hardys, and man, you’ve just got loaded talent. Jordynne Grace, I saw her have one of the best women’s matches I’ve seen in years at one of the pay-per-views. One of the last pay-per-views, I watched it, I thought it was one of the best shows I had seen in a while. I thought it compared with anything, WWE is obviously the gold standard, I thought it compared with WWE as far as the standard. I thought it was just fantastic.”
On November 29, JBL crashed TNA Wrestling’s Turning Point event. During the TNA World Championship match between Nic Nemeth and Eddie Edwards, JBL appeared from the crowd during the main event’s climax. JBL stormed the ring and targeted Bryan Myers, who was wearing a turkey suit. Then JBL hit Myers with a Clothesline From Hell. After the attack, JBL exited the ring and walked backstage without saying a thing. That was quite a strong appearance for the WWE Hall of Famer.
TNA Wrestling has seen several NXT Superstars also show up in the company this year for a variety of matches and stories. A few TNA stars like Jordynne Grace, The Rascalz, and Joe Hendry have also jumped over the NXT for a match or two along the way. Obviously, this talent exchange is still working out for all parties involved.
We will have to see what happens next in this situation. You never know how TNA Wrestling may shock fans in 2025, because 2024 was certainly a notable year for the company for many reasons.
