WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg officially confirmed that he will have a retirement match in 2025 and this has led to a ton of speculation regarding his final opponent, as it really could be anyone. However, it appears WWE may have moved on from a big potential match for Goldberg.
According to a report by Viper of PWN, Goldberg is expected to return to WWE in the early stages of 2025. He is slated to wrestle one or two matches before officially retiring from in-ring competition and riding off into the sunset once and for all.
It was also added that initially, WWE was considering a match between Goldberg and GUNTHER, but the company might be exploring other plans for his return as they may have moved on from that match now.
“Goldberg is set to return to the WWE in the early stages of 2025. It appears he will return to wrestle “one or two” matches before riding off into the sunset once and for all.
Originally, WWE was interested in a Goldberg vs. Gunther match. They may have moved away from that idea now.”
At the Bad Blood Premium Live Event, things heated up when WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER confronted Goldberg and this made many fans feel they were going to face each other in the future but they hadn’t even locked in the match at the time.
In the meantime, Goldberg has already shot down the idea of facing Ric Flair in his retirement match. Therefore, we’ll have to see who Goldberg will face next year, as it’s unlikely the WWE Hall of Famer and The Ring General will have a match now.
