The December 11 episode of AEW Dynamite took place at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The company put out quite a show this week, and that included an AEW Women’s World Title match.
Mariah May finally took on Mina Shirakawa with her AEW Women’s World Title on the line. This was a long time coming for the two, especially after May turned on Shirakawa at Full Gear 2024.
This title match closed out the night for Dynamite this week. The contest went on after the show was supposed to end, as they went into overrun time. After Mina kicked out of a May Day finisher, it was evident that the match was going to go the distance. Mina set up for a Glamorous Driver and drove Mariah May down for a near fall of her own.
In the end, Mariah May hit a Storm Zero and picked up the clean pinfall. The whole time, Thunder Rosa sat at ringside and kept a very close eye on this match. Then Toni Storm made her return with her old music, without the Timeless persona.
Toni Storm, who had a backwards cap on and a mark under her eye, posed for the crowd as the show went off the air. Now, Toni Storm, who recently “retired” from pro wrestling, is now back in the fold.
Mariah May first won her title against Toni Storm at All In 2024. That was quite a victory in Wembley Stadium, and she’s been on a streak since then. We will have to see what’s next for May as the company rolls on toward Worlds End on December 28.
