The legal trouble surrounding Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis is back in the spotlight as Janel Grant’s lawsuit officially resumes
The case, originally filed in January, was temporarily paused in June at the request of the U.S. Department of Justice due to their ongoing investigation into McMahon. With the stay now expired and no extension requested, the lawsuit is moving forward in the Connecticut District Court.
The lawsuit includes serious allegations against McMahon, ranging from sexual assault to sex trafficking. These accusations were a major factor in McMahon stepping down as WWE Chairman earlier this year. The case’s revival could bring new revelations about the claims and the DOJ’s investigation into payouts allegedly made to women who accused McMahon of misconduct during his time as CEO.
McMahon has consistently denied the allegations. In a previous statement to The Wall Street Journal, he said, “I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name.”
According to The Wall Street Journal, a grand jury subpoena has been issued as part of the DOJ investigation, seeking communications between McMahon and women, including Grant, who accused him of misconduct. The investigation reportedly began in 2022, around the time when allegations surfaced that McMahon made substantial payouts to silence claims against him.
With the lawsuit now active again, all eyes are on the Connecticut District Court as proceedings are set to continue. The case promises to bring significant attention to McMahon and WWE’s handling of these allegations, potentially shaking up the wrestling industry even further.
