Jesse Ventura Accuses Hulk Hogan of Getting Him Fired From WCW

Jesse Ventura has been part of the wrestling business for a long time now and shocked the world when he returned to WWE earlier this year. However, his career wasn’t without controversy and that especially involved Hulk Hogan and now he has accused Hulk Hogan of getting him fired from WCW, among other things.

While speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Jesse Ventura talked about why he left WWE. He said that he was let go because he tried to organize a union for the wrestlers and refused to let the company use his image for marketing without negotiating a deal. Ventura felt that these actions made him hard to control, which led to his exit.

“I was thrown out. I was uncontrollable. Jesse The Body Ventura, number one, I tried to unionize. Number two, I wouldn’t allow them to market me without negotiating it. That’s what ultimately got me thrown out of the WWF, WWE.”

Ventura also shared his experience moving to WCW, where he helped Eric Bischoff get into a top position. However, his time there ended when Hulk Hogan arrived. Hogan took Ventura’s style, including wearing sunglasses and a do-rag, and got him fired. Ventura noted that this marked the end of his wrestling career for good.

“Eric Bischoff then got the head job at WCW, and then behind my back, he went out and got Hogan. He (Hogan) came in, got me immediately fired because he took over my look. He put the shades on, he put the do-rag on, and he became a villain. He couldn’t have Jesse Ventura be there and become Jesse Ventura, so he got me fired, and in essence, my wrestling career was over.”

As for Jesse Ventura right now, he signed a Legends deal with the company and will be part of the commentary team for Saturday Night’s Main Event four times every year, so things are clearly better for him right now and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
