Darby Allin is gearing up for a daring expedition that few would attempt. In April 2025, the AEW star plans to climb Mount Everest, becoming one of the rare individuals to conquer the world’s tallest mountain.
Originally set to make the climb earlier this year, Allin had to put his ambitious plans on hold after breaking his foot. Now back on track, Allin opened up to Denise Salcedo in a recent interview about how his AEW mentor, Sting, reacted to his plans to scale the dangerous peak.
“He’s tried but he knows that I really want to do it,” Allin shared. “He’s like, ‘Alright man, if you’re on a vision quest and you want to do something, go do it.’”
While the climb is physically and mentally grueling, Allin sees it as a transformative experience. For him, it’s not just about reaching the summit—it’s about the personal growth that comes with the journey.
“To me, climbing Mount Everest, there’s so many things that go into it,” Allin explained. “It’s a journey because when you’re climbing a mountain like that, you don’t have the energy to talk like we have right now, like we’re talking back and forth. You can’t waste that energy, so you’re just alone with your thoughts on this mountain for essentially two months.”
Allin views this solitary challenge as an opportunity to reflect and push his limits. “I feel like that’s a very humbling experience and I want to always dig down deep inside and remind myself of what I’m capable of and who I am,” he said. “I’m very excited for that opportunity and very grateful that AEW is letting me do this in the middle of my career.”
As Darby Allin prepares to climb Everest, the wrestling world will be watching to see how this ambitious feat unfolds. Will he succeed and return to the ring with a renewed perspective, or will the mountain prove too great a challenge?
