Bobby Lashley is fired up about what’s next for him and his crew, now known as The Hurt Syndicate in AEW.
Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin, who dominated WWE as The Hurt Business, have reunited under Tony Khan’s banner, and the group is already making waves. MVP and Benjamin debuted in September and October, while Lashley completed the trifecta at AEW Fright Night Dynamite.
In an interview with Justin Barrasso for Undisputed, Lashley revealed that his decision to join AEW centered around reigniting the chemistry with MVP and Benjamin. “The reason is The Hurt Syndicate,” Lashley shared. “We wanted an opportunity to run with the group, and Tony Khan gave us that opportunity in AEW. We didn’t get the opportunity to show what we really wanted to do before. Now we do. The possibilities and ideas about what we can do in AEW, that keeps me up at night.”
Lashley didn’t hold back when reflecting on his dynamic with MVP, a partnership that dates back to their days in IMPACT Wrestling. According to Lashley, their combined forces present a unique challenge to anyone in AEW.
“When we got thrown together in Impact, we didn’t know what to expect–but it just worked. There is a synergy. He’s a natural bad guy. He’s the voice, I’m the power. Handling yourself against MVP on the mic and against me in the ring, that’s a challenge for everyone in AEW,” Lashley explained.
Lashley also praised MVP’s authenticity, even if it ruffles some feathers. “We are exactly who we say we are. I’m a nice guy but I can hurt people. MVP does not hold his tongue. At all. That gets him in trouble sometimes, but he’s real. He means what he says, and you need to respect that. If you don’t, you’ve got to deal with me,” Lashley added.
With The Hurt Syndicate reunited and thriving in AEW, Lashley sees nothing but opportunity ahead. Fans are already speculating how this dominant trio will shake up the roster, and it’s clear Lashley is determined to leave his mark.
