WWE presented Deadline over the weekend, and there is a lot to unpack. The Iron Survivor Challenge saw Oba Femi win the men’s match, and he had a lot to say about that.
During the December 10 episode of WWE NXT, Oba Femi was on hand to continue his path after becoming the #1 contender for Trick Williams’ NXT Title. The former NXT North American Champion kicked off the second hour of NXT this week to make his statements.
The Ruler took the ring with a microphone in his hand, and he directed his promo at Trick Williams. Oba Femi was very happy about his Deadline surprise appearance, and how he walked out as the Iron Survivor.
In four weeks, in Los Angeles at New Year’s Evil, Oba Femi said that he will claim his position at the throne as Ruler of NXT. Just as he brought up Trick Williams, the NXT Champion came out to huge “Whoop That Trick” chants.
Before Trick could say anything to Oba Femi, Eddy Thorpe came out to interrupt them. Thorpe was furious at Oba for taking him out of the Iron Survivor Challenge match and then he took his spot. Thorpe said he wasn’t going to stand for this, and then Oba Femi told him to shut his mouth.
Oba Femi made a point to ask whether Eddy Thorpe saw his attacker, which he didn’t. Thorpe also stated that he was hit with a blow so hard it could only come from Oba Femi. Then Trick Williams cut Thorpe off to address Oba Femi. He wasn’t about to back down from The Ruler, either.
Then Oba Femi said that the only reason Trick Williams was the number one guy in NXT is because he allowed it to happen. Then Femi said he’s always known that when the time was ready, then he would take the title from Trick, and they have a date with destiny at New Year’s Evil. The whole time, Eddy Thorpe stood awkwardly off to the side.
Eddy Thorpe stopped Trick Williams from following Oba Femi outside of the ring. He chastised him for not saying anything about Femi attacking him. Then Thorpe suggested that he should get a title match anyway, while saying that he was wrong about Trick Williams. Thorpe also said that Williams wouldn’t last a week in the Japanese dojos that he grew up in. Trick told Eddy to shut up, because he has no problem proving himself as NXT Champion. Then they set up a match for next week between Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe.
Oba Femi made his big return to the scene at Deadline in Eddy Thorpe’s empty spot. Thorpe was supposed to be in the match, but a backstage attack took him out of the picture.
