AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May has made it clear that she doesn’t let the internet shape her mindset, even as she prepares for a major title defense against Mina Shirakawa at AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming.

During an interview with Ginger Vision House, Mariah addressed how she handles online chatter about her and her current storyline, widely regarded as one of the best in wrestling today.

When asked about the internet’s perception of her angle with Mina Shirakawa, Mariah said, “I mean, naturally I’m The Glamour, of course I am. But I try not to read the internet because I don’t think it’s good to do. I don’t think it’s a healthy thing to do if you are an artist or an entertainer and you’re producing things. Everyone’s going to have a lot of different opinions—one day you’re the favorite, and the next day you’re the worst person alive and should quit.”

Mariah shared that she stays focused on her craft instead of getting caught up in online feedback. “I never take it too much, whatever’s on there, and I think it’s healthy not to read it. I know just from obviously doing interviews like this and general perception talking to people I work with that the storylines have been really well received, and that’s really good to hear.”

Mariah also discussed the impact of AEW’s women’s division and her ability to dominate any segment, regardless of time constraints. “It’s really good in AEW, which is only in its fifth year as a company, to show that women can be the main event, we are the focal point. No matter if we have 2 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes, we’re going to be the talking point of that show,” she said.

Reflecting on her feud with Shirakawa, she added, “I do feel like Mina and I have produced the best and most exciting storyline in a short amount of time. It helps that I cracked a bottle over her head, but that’s one thing about me—I am going to take the spotlight. I don’t need 20 minutes like the guys. I can do it in two.”

Mariah May isn’t letting the internet dictate her legacy, and that’s exactly why she’s a champion in and out of the ring. With a sharp focus on her craft and an unapologetic attitude, she’s proving that actions speak louder than tweets. Love her or hate her, Mariah May is taking over—and she doesn’t need your approval to do it. What’s your take on her no-nonsense approach to online chatter? Let us know in the comments!
