Bobby Lashley is no longer with WWE, and there were a lot of stories that had to get left on the table when he departed. That being said, the Almighty once had his eye on teaming with Brock Lesnar to form a team that may have been unbeatable.
Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar have often been compared due to their similar physiques and the fact that they have spent their time in MMA. In 2022, fans finally got to see the two collide, and it was quite an experience. That being said, there were more possibilities.
Despite their success as opponents, Bobby Lashley had an alternate storyline in mind, one where they could have formed a dominant tag team. Of course, Paul Heyman would have led them into battle. While speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Bobby Lashley went into more detail about how he wanted to do a lot more with the Beast Incarnate.
“I wanted to do a lot more with it and I wish we could have done the things we could’ve, should’ve, and wanted to do. I think people could have gotten sold into us training to fight each other and some of the heat we could have brought. Brock was a natural bully, but in this sense, he was a babyface, and I was a heel at the time.”
“It could have showed how we prepared for a fight with each other and showed something different. It could’ve been like the ‘Rocky’ story. If they wanted to, they could have put us together and ran as like the Road Warriors. I was like, wouldn’t it be cool if they brought us up, put us together, have Paul Heyman find a way to put us both together, we win tag team titles, and he keeps referring to ‘I have the greatest fighter in the world and the greatest tag team,’ and it got to the point of, ‘Who is he talking about as the greatest fighter?'”
“You’re only saying one person. That could build natural animosity. ‘I know you and Brock have history, but you keep saying you have the greatest fighter and greatest tag team. Who are you referring to?’ My ego could have gotten in the way, whatever it was, but it brought us apart. It could’ve been. I don’t know if they could’ve put us as a tag team because it might’ve been too dominant. There were people we could’ve had great matches with.”
Bobbi Lashley and Brock Lesnar ultimately had their match at WWE Elimination Chamber 2022, a match that ended in a disqualification. That didn’t give fans the resolution that they wanted, but each Superstar also left the match looking as good as they could.
Although Bobby Lashley is doing good in AEW right now, Brock Lesnar is still off television. He was pulled from the road to WrestleMania 40 thanks to his connection to Janel Grant’s harassment and trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon.
