Marty Jannetty’s reputation speaks for itself as he has landed himself in trouble quite a few times throughout his WWE career and long after that as well. This includes brushes with the law and he has now revealed how Vince McMahon got him out of jail once.

While speaking on Hannibal TV, Marty Jannetty shared a story about how Vince McMahon helped him get out of jail once. Jannetty had been living in Orlando and had a girlfriend who had moved in with him, but their relationship didn’t work out, and he ended up kicking her out.

One night, she broke into his house, apparently trying to harm herself. Jannetty came home late from a club, noticed his window was broken, and assumed it was one of his friends, since they would often come over to party while he was on the road. He wasn’t bothered by it, as long as they cleaned up after themselves, but when he saw the truck with Colorado plates, he realized it was his ex-girlfriend.

“And poor Vince, man, he never got to hear the reason. All she knew was that he got me out of jail in Orlando, where I lived. I had a girlfriend who lived with me for a bit, but it didn’t work out, and I booted her out. She broke in one night, came in, and was apparently trying to kill herself. I came home late from the club, saw my window broken, and thought it was one of my friends, because they used to come over, jiggle the sliding doors open, and party when I was on the road. I didn’t care, as long as they cleaned up after themselves. But I told them, at least clean up the Burger King bags and beer bottles. But when I saw the Colorado plates on the truck, I realized it was her.”

Before Survivor Series, Jannetty had flown her back home to Colorado and told her to stay with her family until he returned. While he was at Survivor Series, Jannetty got into a car wreck, but he won the match. He had been through several near-death experiences in a short period, which made him want to get her out of his life for good.

Jannett said he packed up all her things and sent them to her family in Colorado, telling her not to return. But she came back anyway, broke into his house, and tried to harm herself again. When Jannetty found her, he was furious. He crawled through the broken window to get inside, only to find her trying to hang herself with one of his leggings. He stopped her and she ran out of the house.

“I flew her home before Survivor Series, told her to visit her family until I got back. We went to Survivor Series, and we won our match. But you could see me limping around, because we had a car wreck the night before. I wanted to get her out of there. I’d been through three near-death experiences in six weeks being with her, so I told her to go home. I packed up all her stuff, shipped it out to Colorado, and told her not to come back. But she broke in.

I was so mad when I saw the broken window, realizing she came back and broke into my house. I crawled through the hole in the window, got a little cut on my arm, and heard music upstairs. When I opened the door, it was locked, and I thought she had someone with her. I kicked the door in, and there she was, standing on a barstool, trying to hang herself with one of my stretchy leggings. She was tiny, about 100 pounds, and I shoved her off the stool.”

The police arrived, and even though his ex-girlfriend told them she didn’t want him arrested, the officers explained that they had to arrest someone because of a new domestic dispute law in Florida. Despite Jannetty’s explanation that she was the one who broke in and was trying to harm herself, they decided to arrest him. The officers told him they were taking him in because of his size and reputation as a wrestler, while his ex-girlfriend was small and petite.

“She ran down the street, and the police came. They arrested me. When they were talking to me, I said, ‘Why are you taking me in? She said she didn’t want me arrested.’ But they explained a new Florida law that required them to take someone in during a domestic dispute. I told them, ‘If you’re taking someone in, take her. She broke my window and tried to hang herself.’ The officers seemed to agree, but they said, ‘We’re going to take you in. You’re a big, tough wrestler, and she’s just a little girl.’ They said they would be the laughingstock.”

When Jannetty got to jail, the lieutenant recognized him and gave him a tour of the facility. Jannetty wasn’t interested in paying the $300 bond to get out. Instead, he planned to stay in jail and make a point about the situation. He called Vince McMahon to let him know what had happened.

Vince McMahon was shocked and said they couldn’t arrest him for something like that. Jannetty explained he was staying in jail to make a point, but Vince insisted he needed to be on the road more than he needed to make a statement. After Vince spoke to the authorities, they quickly released Jannetty, with Vince taking care of everything and ensuring his release.

“So, they took me to jail. When I got there, the lieutenant recognized me and showed me around, introducing me to people who had been on TV. They kept telling me I could bond out for $300, but I wasn’t going to do it. I wanted to stay there and make a point.

I called Vince and told him what happened. He was shocked, and he said, ‘They can’t do that.’ I told him, ‘I’m in jail, Vince.’ He said, ‘You need to get on that tour more than you need to make a point.’ He got on the phone with them, and the next thing I knew, they said I was free to go. Vince took care of everything, and I was out.”

Marty Jannetty’s life is always full of ups and downs and even this year, he was married and divorced in a short span of time, making it clear things in his life are always unpredictable. Nevertheless, Jannetty will remain grateful to Vince McMahon for helping him out whenever possible and that’s all that matters to him in the end.
