TNA Wrestling’s bold decision to let fans choose the location for a major 2025 live event has taken an unexpected turn, with questions now swirling about the legitimacy of the voting process. While fans were promised the power to decide between New York City and Los Angeles, recent revelations suggest the results may not have been as straightforward as they seemed.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TNA claimed that more than one million votes were cast in the poll—a staggering figure for a promotion that hasn’t drawn crowds larger than 3,000 in years. Despite the fan-driven poll, TNA later announced dates for events in both cities, raising eyebrows about whether the voting was simply a promotional gimmick.
Rebellion is set to take place on April 27, 2025, at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, which has a capacity of 10,258 but will likely be set up for around 7,500 seats for the pay-per-view. Meanwhile, Slammiversary will be held on July 20, 2025, at New York’s UBS Arena, which can hold up to 19,000 fans but is expected to accommodate about 13,500 for wrestling. These large venues represent ambitious moves for TNA, which hasn’t sold more than 3,000 tickets for a show in years.
Dave Meltzer questioned the logistics behind these announcements, noting, “These deals aren’t like snap your fingers. But they are ambitious.” Fans are now left wondering whether their votes truly influenced the outcome or if the events were already planned regardless of the poll’s results.
While the idea of letting fans participate in shaping the company’s future seemed like a love letter to TNA’s loyal audience, the apparent disconnect between the poll and the announcements has left some fans feeling duped.
