WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is a legend in pro wrestling, but his career has often been overshadowed by controversies, many caused by his own actions. One of the most infamous incidents he was involved in is the “Plane Ride from Hell” in 2002 and it appears Flair has now admitted he can’t wear robes on planes anymore after that incident.

While speaking to Inside the Ropes, Ric Flair talked about reconnecting with old friends after returning to WWE following WCW’s shutdown. He said that since he was on borrowed time, he didn’t waste time being negative. He was thankful for every opportunity, especially moments like those.

Flair said he was excited to see his old friends, people he had known his whole life, and how special it was to go out, have dinner, and share a drink with them. He mentioned how rare it was for people to stay in touch with old friends and have a chance to catch up.

“We’re all here, especially a guy like me, on borrowed time. I don’t have time in my life to be negative about anything. I just can’t. I’m thankful for every opportunity I have, especially for moments like this.

I’m actually looking forward to seeing all the guys because those are the people you spent your whole life with. To be able to go out, have dinner with them, and share a drink—it’s special. That only happens two or three times a year. Think about it—how many people have friends from years back they still get to catch up with?

Flair also talked about not his robe anymore when partying and raising hell with his colleagues. He said he couldn’t take it on airplanes anymore, likely referring to his involvement in the famous “Plane Ride from Hell” incident.

“An event like this lets you meet up, head over to the hotel, and have a good time. Not raise hell like we used to, but still have fun. I don’t wear my robe anymore—not that I don’t want to. I’m just not allowed to carry it on airplanes anymore.”

During the infamous “Plane Ride from Hell” incident, Ric Flair allegedly exposed himself to a flight attendant while wearing his robe. Flair’s involvement would see him getting removed from WWE’s opening video for a while until it was brought back a couple of years ago. Regardless, Flair will continue to do whatever he wants and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
