TNA Turning Point 2024 had plenty of surprises, but the biggest was Matt Riddle making his debut for the company, which no one saw coming and now Matt Hardy has revealed how Riddle’s debut came together.

While speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy talked about Trey Miguel being pulled from his match at Turning Point. He noted that a last-minute replacement was sorely needed, and that turned out to be none other than Matt Riddle.

Hardy noted that Turning Point started at 7 PM, but Riddle was signing at WrestleCade and didn’t arrive until around 7:25 or 7:27. By that time, there were only two matches left before Hardy and Riddle were scheduled to perform.

Riddle quickly changed and got ready before rushing out for the match. Despite the lack of preparation time, Hardy noted that the match came together well, with many praising it the following day. Hardy pointed out how impressive it was to secure Riddle as a replacement on such short notice and how they managed to deliver a strong performance with minimal planning.

“We found a last-second replacement, and that ended up being Matt Riddle. We were the fifth match on the show, and the event started at 7 o’clock. Matt was signing at WrestleCade and didn’t walk in until about 7:25 or 7:27. At that point, there were only two matches left before ours.

He had to quickly change, get ready, and then we were going to rush out and have the match. And we did. Surprisingly, a lot of people were really complimentary of the match the next day, so it was very, very cool.

It was amazing that they were able to get him on such short notice as a replacement. It was also really cool that, despite not having much time to plan or think through the match, we just went out there and made it happen.”

Earlier reports claim that TNA Wrestling was happy with how the crowd received Matt Riddle at Turning Point. However, there is no indication that TNA will be bringing back The Original Bro anytime soon and fans have accepted that fact. We’ll have to see what the future holds for Matt Riddle in the coming months, since he is clearly flourishing.
