Zilla Fatu, the son of WWE legend Umaga, is making a name for himself in independent wrestling and fans believe should join WWE soon because of his family legacy and talent. That said, Fatu has revealed why he isn’t in any rush to join WWE or any other major promotion.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Zilla Fatu talked about how wrestling became an unexpected path for him. After being released from jail, wrestling was just one of the options he considered for his future.

Fatu revealed that he never dreamed of wrestling while growing up but decided to give it a try. Since then, the journey has become deeply emotional for him because it helps him feel closer to his late father. Fatu stated that he is not rushing to sign with any major promotion as he is focused on his personal journey, using this time to honor his father’s legacy and grow as a wrestler.

“I never wanted to wrestle like that growing up. I came home from jail and wrestling was an option, so I just ended up doing it and I’m here. I want to say me wrestling right now, I’m really happy I started wrestling because it brought me closer to who my dad was. That’s why this journey is so emotional to me, that’s why I’m not in any rush to get anywhere. That’s why this journey is so emotional to me, that’s why I’m not in any rush to get anywhere. I think every day I get in the ring, I get emotional because I tap into who my dad was.”

Fatu explained that his main focus is keeping his father’s legacy alive through his own career. Zilla said he was deeply moved by the love fans still show for his father, even though Umaga passed away in 2009. That support inspired him to see wrestling as more than a job—it’s a way to honor his father’s memory.

“I think what really made me tap in since was the love and affection I got from fans. Here I’m thinking my dad passed away in 2009 and it’s 2024 and he’s still getting that love. So for me to receive that from them, it makes me want to go. It makes me think, ‘Maybe there is something with wrestling,’ and that’s just one of my chapters. It’s not a story, it’s one of the chapters in my life to make sure my dad’s legacy lives up to the expectations that everybody holds me to. That’s what I’m doing now and I’m excited.”

Nonetheless, it remains to be seen whether Zilla Fatu will make his way to WWE and become a proper star in the company, as Fatu certainly believes he is destined to be in WWE one day, but it may not happen soon.
