AEW President Tony Khan is focused on building the best roster possible and is willing to spend whatever it takes to achieve that goal. That’s why it comes as no surprise that Booker T thinks Tony Khan does not care about wasting money.
While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T believes Tony Khan doesn’t care about wasting money because he has so much of it. He explained that when someone is that rich, it’s easy to spend without worrying.
Booker T shared a story about a prince from Dubai who bought a very expensive car on the spot. The owner didn’t want to sell it at first, but the prince insisted, showing that with enough money, anything can be bought.
“I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t know; I think he just doesn’t care. When you have that kind of money, man, it’s easy to throw it away. It really is. I was watching a video recently, and it was one of those princes from Dubai. This guy had a car worth a couple of million dollars. The prince rolls up to him and says, ‘How much for your car?’ The guy says, ‘It’s not for sale,’ and the prince replies, ‘Everything’s for sale.’ Next thing you know, the prince is driving off in the guy’s car.”
Booker pointed out that Tony Khan has described his financial resources as a “war chest,” which makes it clear that the AEW President seemingly has an endless amount of money to spend. For Booker, this explains why Tony Khan can operate without worrying about overspending.
“Money talks when you have it, especially when you have an endless amount. I think I heard Tony Khan refer to it as his ‘war chest.’ That says it all right there. With that kind of money, you can go all day if you want to. That’s how I see it.”
Tony Khan has already spent quite a lot of money in signing the likes of Mercedes Mone, Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay and also having Swerve Strickland sign a lucrative long-term deal with AEW. Nonetheless, Khan will continue to use his money the way he sees fit and many fans may just agree with what Booker T had to say on this matter.
