Bobby Lashley might be in AEW right now, but he had a longstanding feud with Brock Lesnar a couple of years in WWE and it was a long time coming. However, Lashley has now admitted that he wished he could have done more with the feud.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Bobby Lashley talked about his feud with Brock Lesnar. Lashley admitted that he wished his feud with Brock Lesnar in WWE could have been better.
Lashley felt there was a lot more they could have done to make it exciting for the fans. Lashley thought it would have been great to show how they trained to fight each other, building up the tension and creating a bigger story. At the time, Lesnar was the face, while Lashley was the heel, which could have added an interesting dynamic.
“I wanted to do a lot more with it. I wish we could have really done the things that we could have, should have and wanted to do. I think people could have really got sold into just us training to fight each other and some of the heat we could have brought. Brock was a natural bully but in this sense he was a babyface since he was coming back and forth and I was a heel at the time. It could have shown how we prepared for a fight with each other and showed something different like it could have been something like The Rock used to work.”
Lashley even had the idea of them teaming up, similar to The Road Warriors. He imagined Paul Heyman managing them and calling them the best tag team while also hyping up “the greatest fighter in the world.” This could have caused drama, with Lashley questioning who Heyman was really talking about—him or Lesnar. This tension could have led to them breaking up and starting a bigger feud.
Lashley thinks it might have been too much for them to dominate as a team, but it would have been fun to try. Lashley believes they missed out on some great matches and stories they could have told together.
“Hell, if they wanted to, they could have put us two together and kinda ran like The Road Warriors for a while. I even went to a point where I was like ‘Man wouldn’t it be cool if they would’ve brought us both back here and then put us together. Have Paul Heyman find a way to put us both together and the whole time we win tag team titles, he keeps referring to ‘I got the greatest fighter in the world and the greatest tag team.’ Then it got to a point where it’s like ‘Who do you keep talking about as the greatest fighter?’ Cause you’re only saying one person.
That could have shown some natural animosity there. It’s like ‘Hold on a second man, I know you and Brock have history, but you keep saying you have the greatest fighter and tag team. So, who are you referring to?’ So it could be like my ego had gotten away or something. They always said some of the best feuds are the people that was together first but something brought us apart. “I don’t know if we could have put us two together as a tag team because it might have been too dominant, but I still see there were some people in there that we could have had great fights with and great matches with that we needed to.”
Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar clashed a few times during their feud, but many fans felt it could have been handled much better, leaving a lot of potential untapped. Lashley himself shares that sentiment, wishing they had done more with the rivalry. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that will change anytime soon.
