Bobby Lashley is pulling back the curtain on one of WWE’s most talked-about storylines: the wild love triangle involving himself, Lana, and Rusev. During a candid chat with Chris Van Vliet, Lashley opened up about how the controversial angle came together and credited Lana for making the entire experience not just manageable but even enjoyable.
“It was 100% Lana that made me feel comfortable doing it,” Lashley admitted. “She was on top of everything. She’d be like, ‘Alright, I got a photographer over here. We need a photographer there. We need people to see us together so it’s not just thrown out there.’”
Lashley said he initially found the storyline to be outside his comfort zone, as he was focused on wrestling, not playing into the drama. “All I’m thinking about is who am I supposed to wrestle or go smash? But she was pulling me in all these different directions. I even asked her, ‘Are you cool with all this?’ And she was like, ‘Yes.’ She knows acting and was able to fully immerse herself into the character.”
The former WWE Champion also had high praise for Lana’s dedication to the craft, despite the criticism she faced from fans. “Some people were hard on her because it seems like she tries too hard, and sometimes it might not come off as sincere. But working with her, I realized she’s a sweetheart. She really helped me feel comfortable in that role,” Lashley shared. “I was working with her and her husband, and she kept it very respectful. She understood what the plan was and played her part perfectly.”
While the storyline divided fans at the time, Lashley’s comments paint a picture of a collaborative effort to deliver entertainment in one of WWE’s most polarizing feuds.
