There is no shortage of drama in the pro wrestling industry, and CM Punk’s name has been the center of a lot of it over the years. Now, even though he left AEW well over a year ago after he was released following his Brawl In fight with Jack Perry, The Second City Savior is still the subject of AEW’s dirty laundry.
Ryan Nemeth recently made headlines about several allegations following his AEW exit. It was reported that Nemeth filed a formal complaint with AEW executives outlining his treatment within the company through a timeline where he had evidence of emails, texts, and call logs. Nemeth alleged that in April 2023, he contacted AEW’s legal representative Megha Parekh about being targeted by CM Punk when Punk threatened him in a locker room incident. While he did receive some support from the roster, Nemeth felt the company’s response wasn’t good enough. All this ended with him getting silently fired from the company.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Ryan Nemeth stated that after submitting his timeline to AEW, Chris Peck offered a settlement equal to about three years of his salary, but this was contingent on signing an NDA. Then things changed in those talks.
Ryan Nemeth’s legal team had reportedly advised him that the period for making deals was over, because AEW pulled their offer. Nemeth reportedly said he appreciated the offer, but then he was informed by his legal counsel that it was no longer on the table. He claims Peck told him he would “be placed in an antagonistic position to Megha if things ever escalated to arbitration.” This was despite the fact that Ryan had a positive working relationship with her. Ryan Nemeth also alleged Peck threatened to sue him over sending the timeline.
Nemeth’s complaint highlighted the point that Peck warned him about being in a bad position with Megha Parekh if arbitration actually took place. This also allegedly included the threat of legal action over the timeline.
Dave Meltzer noted that this happened not long before Megha Parekh quietly left her role as AEW’s head of legal. Meltzer added to say that, “To this day, nobody’s ever said what happened. She was just gone… I knew she was gone, and she never came back.”
This is a very interesting situation, and there are a lot of factors in play. It seems that we are still getting a better look at some of the toxicity that surrounded CM Punk’s time in AEW.
