AEW has grown significantly over the years, and its biggest achievement so far has been All In 2023, which stands as the company’s crowning moment. Tony Khan has now bragged that the event sold more tickets than the high-profile fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.
While speaking on The Battleground podcast, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about his recent remarks where he clapped back at bad faith criticism over AEW All In 2023’s success.
Tony Khan proceeded to brag about the fact that AEW All In 2023 sold 81,035 tickets at Wembley Stadium, setting a new record for wrestling ticket sales. He responded to people who claimed that AEW only sold over 73,000 tickets, stating that even if that number was true, it would still be impressive.
Khan pointed out that it would be more tickets than Mike Tyson and Jake Paul sold for their fight, which was one of the biggest events ever, and that would still be a huge success, as he simply does not understand how anyone could view it negatively.
“We sold 81,035 tickets to AEW at Wembley Stadium last year and we set the world record for wrestling ticket sales of 81,035 sold and people are so determined to try and take AEW down. People thought that and said, ‘Hey I think you only sold 73,000+ tickets.’ First of all, it was 81,000 but even if it had been 73,000, that’s a great #2. That’s more tickets than Mike Tyson and Jake Paul sold on one of the biggest events of all time. That would be a massive success too, so how is that supposed to be some kind of an own? I don’t get it.”
For the record, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul’s fight sold around 59,666 tickets. Regardless, Tony Khan knows how to deal with haters and he will always defend his company no matter what, especially when the achievement is something as significant as AEW All In 2023.
