Ricochet, who joined AEW a few months ago, continues to impress fans with his high-flying wrestling style, which perfectly suits the promotion. That being said, he made a bold statement recently as he claimed credit for AEW’s formation.
While speaking to 1035 KISSFM, Ricochet was asked if he feels he is a perfect fit for AEW. Ricochet made it clear he feels that he is and added that his work in wrestling helped make AEW possible. He admitted he’s not the only reason AEW exists but believes his matches with stars like Will Ospreay, PAC, and AR Fox, as well as his time in promotions like Dragon Gate, PWG, and New Japan Pro Wrestling, played a big part in creating the right environment for AEW to succeed.
Ricochet mentioned that it wasn’t just him but also wrestlers like the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Ospreay who helped shape modern wrestling. Ricochet added that without him, there might not even be a Will Ospreay. He finished by saying that the passion he and others brought to wrestling was key to AEW’s success and that he feels like he fits perfectly in the company.
“I mean, I think, come on, let’s be like, and I’m not saying that I am the sole reason, I’m just saying, if there wasn’t Ricochet, there would not be AEW. Again, I’m not saying I’m the sole reason that it happened, but I’m just saying I feel like what I have done, you know with Ospreay, PAC, AR Fox, with Dragon Gate, with PWG, with everything, you know, overseas, you know, New Japan, everything—I feel like what I have done in my past career helps set up a world where AEW can’t exist, you know?
And I’m not saying it’s just me, it’s me, it’s the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, it’s Ospreay, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s everybody. But I’m just saying, without Ricochet, there’d be no Ospreay, really, you know what I’m saying? But uh, leading in, I think, you know, just all of us guys, our passion—without that, there would be no AEW. So I think I am a good fit.”
Ricochet also doesn’t understand why people criticize his in-ring style, but it is likely fans may not necessarily agree with what Ricochet had to say. There’s no denying that Ricochet’s style and presence make him a great fit for AEW. However, fans believe his claim about being a reason for AEW’s formation might not be entirely accurate.
