The New Day spent 10 years together in WWE, creating many memorable moments. However, the group officially broke up during the December 2nd edition of Monday Night RAW. While many fans were upset by the split, it seems The Miz is in favor of the decision.
While speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Pat McAfee asked The Miz about The New Day breaking up during RAW this week. The Miz made it clear that he is happy Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston decided to remove Big E from The New Day.
The A-Lister thinks it’s a good thing and believes Kofi and Xavier are figuring out what they need to do to succeed in WWE. To Miz, that means letting go of Big E, who he called “excess baggage.”
“I’m glad they did that. I think we should celebrate the fact that Kofi and Xavier are coming to terms with who they are and what they need to do to succeed in WWE and that is to get rid of the excess baggage, which is Big E.”
Fans may not have been entirely surprised to see The New Day break up, but no one expected both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to reject Big E in such a heartless manner and ruin their 10 years of friendship.
It didn’t stop there as Xavier Woods also targeted Big E’s girlfriend Kristen. Fans are now waiting to see whether WWE will capitalize on Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston’s heel turn and make them compelling characters again, as it’s very clear the company has a long-term goal for this angle.
