Samantha Irvin’s unexpected departure from WWE before a recent episode of Monday Night RAW surprised the wrestling world, leaving fans curious about her potential return to the industry. Regarding her future in the business, Ricochet has now addressed the same.
While speaking on The Wrestling Classic, Ricochet was asked whether there was a chance Samantha Irvin could make an appearance to be a special ring announcer for him in a big match and not in a full-time role.
Ricochet stated that it’s unlikely as he explained that she doesn’t want to be a ring announcer anymore, no matter the sport. He added that she doesn’t enjoy announcing people’s names or introducing them.
Ricochet noted that Samantha Irvin still loves being a character in wrestling and would enjoy being part of a story that connects with fans emotionally. While she’s open to creating moments and telling stories, she has no desire to return to announcing.
“No, I would say no. Um, I wouldn’t even want her to do that. I think she just doesn’t want to be a ring announcer at all—any kind of announcing, whether it’s for boxing, UFC, NFL, or basketball. She doesn’t want to announce people’s names. She doesn’t want to say, ‘And here, from Lexington, Kentucky,’ or anything like that.
She still loves being a character, though. She’d love to be in a story, to make the fans feel something, to take them on a roller coaster of emotions—that’s what she enjoys. But simply announcing someone’s weight and hometown? She doesn’t want to do that anymore.”
Ricochet also mentioned that her involvement in wrestling would be entirely up to her. Currently, she seems to prefer staying away from the industry due to its toxicity and has been enjoying her time as a wrestling fan instead.
“Oh I mean, that’s up to her. I’m not sure if she’s interested in wrestling right now, because I think she’s not really a fan of the toxicity of it at the moment. She’s honestly been loving just not being part of it and enjoying being a wrestling fan instead.”
Irvin’s decision to leave WWE had been something she’d been thinking about for a long time, as she now wants to focus on her music career. In fact, she has also started filming for the second season of “Churchy,” so things are clearly moving in a good direction for her. We’ll have to see whether Samantha Irvin makes her way back to pro wrestling one day, as anything is possible in the world of professional wrestling.
