AEW star Luchasaurus, now known as Killswitch, is facing an uphill battle in his recovery from severe pneumonia that has left him sidelined for months. According to Sean Ross Sapp on the latest Fightful Select Q&A podcast, the former AEW TNT Champion is “nowhere near return” to the ring, and his road back remains uncertain.
“I know whenever he talks he’s going to—he’s planning on talking about it eventually,” Sapp revealed. “But nowhere near return from what I understand.”
Luchasaurus’ condition has worsened since his initial diagnosis in September, when he collapsed at home due to dangerously low blood oxygen levels below 80%. While initial reports hinted at a quicker recovery, complications like calcification in a heart valve and difficulties with iron production have slowed his progress significantly. Doctors have placed him on oxygen support for several weeks, and rebuilding his physical strength is now the primary focus.
Medical professionals remain cautiously optimistic that he will eventually recover enough to wrestle again, but it’s clear that his return to the ring is far from imminent. Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live echoed these concerns, stating that while the situation isn’t confirmed to be career-ending, the severity of the complications leaves that possibility on the table.
Luchasaurus has yet to speak publicly about his condition, but fans continue to send their support to the beloved star as he battles through this challenging time.
