Jonathan Coachman Claims Nia Jax Led Effort to Remove Him from WWE RAW Commentary Team

Jonathan Coachman spent quite a few years in WWE but has been away from the company for a long time now with no indication he will return. That being said, Coachman has now claimed that Nia Jax disliked him and pushed for his removal from the RAW commentary team.

While speaking on the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, Jonathan Coachman talked about his second run with WWE and some issues he faced. He claimed Nia Jax hated him and pushed for Renee Paquette to take over his spot on the Monday Night RAW commentary team.

When Coachman returned to WWE after working at ESPN, he told Vince McMahon he had four golf events he couldn’t miss. Vince initially agreed, but after Coachman missed his second event, Vince McMahon became frustrated. WWE brought in temporary replacements, including Renee, who eventually took over his role full-time.

Coachman mentioned that some people backstage weren’t happy about his return, and Nia Jax led the effort to have Renee Paquette replace him. He didn’t know why Jax disliked him but believed her actions were a big part of the decision.

“She hates me, by the way—Nia Jax hates me. No, years ago, when—and this shows how crazy it was at the time—when I left ESPN and came back to WWE, I told Vince, ‘I’ve got four golf events already on my schedule that I don’t want to miss.’ In my first 10 years in WWE, I missed one Monday night. So, when I came back 10 years later and told Vince I’d miss four events in that calendar year, how do you think that went over?

He said, ‘No problem, Coach. We got you.’ Well, he had me…until the second missed event. Then he’s like, ‘This is some b*******!’ And I was like, ‘But I told you.’ So they started filling in. I remember they put Renee in my spot.

Nobody liked the fact that they brought me back. For whatever reason—I’m not going to use the jealous word—it is what it is. But Nia Jax led the charge. Renee, Renee, Renee in Coach’s spot. She didn’t like me, for whatever reason.”

After leaving WWE in 2008, he made a comeback in January 2018 as a commentator for Raw. However, Coachman was replaced in September of that same year and has not been seen in WWE since. Coachman also confirmed that he has no intention of returning to WWE again and fans can understand why considering how his previous stint turned out for him.
