Eric Bischoff Breaks Down How 11/26 NXT Appearance Came Together

WWE shook things up with the announcement that Eric Bischoff will make his NXT debut on the December 3 episode, but how did this monumental moment come together? According to Bischoff, the opportunity came together thanks to a mix of perfect timing and efficiency. “Both phone calls [WWE and MLW] came in around the same time. It was ironic. Just a simple call,” Bischoff explained.

He mentioned that he was already scheduled to work on a Peacock project in Orlando and WWE seized the moment to bring him onto NXT. “Because I’m going to be there anyway, in Orlando working on that, ‘oh by the way, there is a live show on Tuesday. Let’s get him in here and make him a part of the NXT show.’ I think that’s the reason it came together. Efficiency, more than anything, and a good opportunity.”

The appearance is particularly special for Bischoff, who has never been part of NXT before. “This is a first for me and the audience,” he added, signaling just how much this debut means in the grand scheme of his storied career.

As for whether this will lead to more Bischoff appearances, the Hall of Famer joked about his sporadic history with wrestling companies. “I’m unemployable. People don’t mind bringing me in for a night, but you watch, you won’t see me again for six months. A little bit of me goes a long way,” he said with a laugh.

However, he acknowledged the significance of his legacy. “There is some name value there. A storied member of the Monday Night Wars and the legacy that created. It has some value, but realistically, it’s limited. If I get an opportunity to do something like this a couple times a year, that’s all I can ask for. I’m grateful for that.”
