Big E is opening up about his uncertain future in the ring nearly two years after suffering a devastating neck injury during a WWE SmackDown match in March 2022. The former WWE Champion has been sidelined ever since, and while his in-ring return remains unclear, Big E is finding peace and purpose outside the ropes.
In a heartfelt piece for The Player’s Tribune, Big E shared his thoughts on the life-changing injury and his evolving career. “You know that thing I said earlier — how I’m someone who spent his past not being able to picture a future? I can picture one now,” he wrote. “Which is ironic, I guess, since I broke my neck and can’t wrestle. But I’m at peace. And if that’s truly a wrap on my in-ring career… I’m excited to explore the paths that are opening up for me in its wake.”
Big E expressed enthusiasm for his post-wrestling ventures, including his work with WWE’s NIL program and hosting pre- and post-shows for premium live events. He’s also exploring opportunities in acting, voice work, filmmaking, and more. “I feel like I’ve spent the last 10 years with Woods and Kofi on this amazing, life-changing project: trying to perform a version of wrestling that’s in the image of all the things we love,” he continued. “And now I want to find out how far I can stretch that project past wrestling.”
Despite his uncertain in-ring status, Big E is gearing up for a major milestone with The New Day. He will join Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston on this week’s WWE Raw to celebrate the group’s 10-year anniversary, a testament to their lasting impact on WWE and the wrestling world.
Fans remain hopeful for Big E’s return to the squared circle, but for now, his focus is on embracing new opportunities and continuing to inspire beyond the ring.
