Penta El Zero Miedo Officially a Free Agent After AEW Contract Expires

Penta El Zero Miedo was once seen as a wrestler who would stay with AEW for the rest of his career. However, that is no longer the case, as the former AEW Tag Team Champion is now a free agent after his contract expired.

According to Fightful Select, Penta El Zero Miedo’s contract with the company has officially expired, making him “effectively a free agent.” This information comes from sources within the company, but it’s unclear whether Penta or AEW will release an official statement about his departure.

Penta El Zero Miedo will not be joined by his brother Rey Fenix, who will be staying with the company. Fenix’s contract was changed to account for his injury time, so he’s expected to stay with AEW for almost another year.

The Lucha Bros haven’t appeared on AEW TV since August 2024, and reports stated that they were talking to WWE. It’s unclear why Penta started talks with WWE, but it could suggest tension with AEW. Before the contract issues, Penta, Fenix, and PAC were supposed to win the AEW Trios Championships at All In, but those plans were scrapped after the WWE rumors surfaced.

While Penta likely won’t join WWE, several independent promotions have shown strong interest in booking him for big matches and he is available for such bookings now that he is a free agent. There’s no word yet on whether Penta has a non-compete clause or which promotions are interested.
