Skye Blue has been making waves in AEW, and even during her recovery from injury, she’s connecting with fans by sharing personal stories. In a recent interview with the Chicago Wolves, the rising star opened up about the emotional significance of her tattoo—a “21” inked on her arm—and the unforgettable moment that inspired it.
Blue revealed that the tattoo is a permanent reminder of the year her wrestling dream came true. “I have a ‘21’ on my arm because I was 21 in 2021 when I got signed,” she shared. That milestone came after an incredible surprise from AEW President Tony Khan, who personally invited her to participate in the Casino Battle Royale at All Out 2021. The unexpected moment left Blue overwhelmed with emotion.
Recalling the surreal experience, she said, “At the end of one of the dark matches, Tony came out on the stage and had me come up. I thought I messed up—I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m going to get fired before I’m even hired.’ But then he asked me to be in the Battle Royal at All Out, and I was bawling my eyes out like a little kid. I couldn’t believe it.”
The heartfelt moment continued as she called her mom to share the life-changing news. “I went outside and called my mom. I was like, ‘You have to get pay-per-view tickets—I’m on the pay-per-view!’ I’ve never heard a scream so loud through a phone. She was so excited.”
Despite being nervous during her debut, the memory remains one of her favorites. “There’s a picture of me from the pay-per-view where I look like I’m about to throw up on the ramp because I was so nervous, but it’s my absolute favorite picture. That’s when my dream came true—I finally made it.”
While she’s still on the road to recovery, Blue is keeping her focus on coming back stronger and ready to step into the ring again. Her tattoo serves as a constant reminder of how far she’s come and the dreams she’s achieved.
