Fans packed The Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia for Survivor Series 2024. There were only five matches announced for the card, but that also came with Bron Breakker putting his Intercontinental Title on the line in a match where the odds were very much against him, but the champion retained.
This match could have gone either way, with the action moving to ringside. The hard-hitting contest took the ring closest to the announce table in the WarGames setup. In the end, the finish came after Kaiser was taken out at the timekeeper’s area, thanks to a clothesline from Sheamus with the help of his shillelagh. This left the match open for Sheamus and Breakker to wrestle a bit. Then, Sheamus landed a Brogue Kick, but Kaiser pulled the referee out of the ring to stop him, and then he broke the shillelagh across Sheamus’ back. In the end, Kaiser took out Sheamus and the Breakker nailed a spear out of nowhere before Sheamus took one too for the pinfall.
The IC Title triple threat match was the third contest of the night. It directly followed Shinsuke Nakamura’s shocking United States Title win over LA Knight. The Celtic Warrior really wanted that title, because it is the one singles championship he hasn’t picked up in his shoo-in WWE Hall of Fame career.
Bron Breakker first won the WWE Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam 2024 as he defeated Sami Zayn. He lost that title to Jey Uso during the September 23 episode of WWE RAW, but that title reign for Uce was short. On the October 21 episode of WWE RAW, he defeated Uso to regain the Intercontinental Championship after The Bloodline interfered.
This Survivor Series: WarGames triple threat match for the IC Title took some time to build. On the November 18 episode of WWE RAW, Bron Breakker defended the Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus.
During the title match, Ludwig Kaiser attacked Breakker, which caused a disqualification. The next week during the November 25 episode of RAW, Breakker faced Kaiser in a non-title match, but Sheamus didn’t let that go without attacking Kaiser, and the contest ended in DQ as well. After a brawl broke out, General Manager Adam Pearce scheduled a triple threat match at Survivor Series: WarGames.
