Raquel Rodriguez is back and better than ever after a harrowing health battle that sidelined her for months. The WWE Superstar, who was dealing with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, made her triumphant return at WWE Bad Blood, where she reunited with WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan. Now, Rodriguez is opening up about her time away from the ring, her struggles, and the bond that kept her going.
Speaking with Graham “GSM” Matthews on WrestleRant Radio, Rodriguez reflected on the uncertainty she faced during her time off. “As an athlete, as a wrestler, you get put in a position where you’re going, going, going, and then all of a sudden, it just stops,” she said. “It almost feels like time stands still, and you’re left wondering, ‘What’s my purpose now?’ For me, this has been my dream since I was a little girl… so for all of that to just get taken away, I almost felt lost.”
Rodriguez shared the emotional toll her illness took, revealing how it affected her confidence and daily life. “I couldn’t work out. I couldn’t strain myself too hard. I didn’t even want people to see me because I didn’t feel good,” she admitted. But through it all, one person was there for her: Liv Morgan. “Liv never stopped being there for me… even with everything she had on her plate, she checked up on me and made me feel like I wasn’t alone. That turned everything around for me.”
Their bond solidified Rodriguez’s loyalty. “When I do step back into that ring, that is one person I’m going to support 110%. Coming back, there was no question about what side I was going to be on. It was always going to be Liv Morgan’s side,” Rodriguez said.
Since her return, Rodriguez has embraced every moment, vowing to never take her career for granted. “I told myself I’m not taking any of these days or opportunities for granted. I’ve felt how quickly it can all go away,” she said. “Since I’ve been back, it’s been so much fun. I love getting to be with Liv Morgan… and being part of Judgment Day with Dominik, Carlito, Finn, JD—it’s hilarious. I feel like a whole new person.”
Rodriguez is set to compete in the Women’s WarGames Match at WWE Survivor Series, and fans can’t wait to see how her journey continues to unfold.
