LA Knight is the United States Champion right now but it wasn’t an easy journey for him to join WWE. Fans clearly remember LA Knight’s appearance on Triple H’s Fitness DVD from a decade ago and now Knight has revealed how that appearance came together.

While speaking during an interview with Jazzys World TV, LA Knight was asked about his appearance in Triple H’s fitness DVD from 2014 and how it even happened. The video was filmed at the WWE Performance Center and featured NXT talent. LA Knight, then known as Slate Randall, was one of the participants and gave his iconic “Yeah!” during the workout.

Knight explained that he didn’t know how the selection process worked. They simply told him to show up for a workout and bring some clothes, and they provided wardrobe as well. He noted that the people chosen for the video were likely those who were in good shape. When asked if the experience helped his career, Knight joked that it probably didn’t since he was fired soon after, and that all happened about 10 years ago.

“Uh, no, not at all. Uh, just short and sweet. Uh, no, in all honesty, I don’t know what the selection process was for that. One day they were just like, ‘Hey, uh, we’re going to have you guys doing this workout thing, so make sure you bring some clothes.’ They also had wardrobe for us. So, it was basically just like they selected a handful of guys, probably all the body guys, all the guys who were in pretty good shape, and decided to put us in that video. Did that help me in any way? Probably not, uh, because I got fired shortly after that, and that was 10 years ago.”

All’s well that ends well for LA Knight as he is now a constant presence on WWE television and Triple H clearly trusts him as the United States Champion, so it’s safe to say his hard work and perseverance paid off in a big way.
