WWE Angle Lifts Direct Dialogue from Rocky III for NXT Angle

Tony D’Angelo has been through a lot of interesting stories since he debuted as part of NXT 2.0. Not only has he stuck around, but his D’Angelo Family stable has become a fan favorite. They are known for their Sopranos style promos, but it appears that they also borrowed from the Italian Stallion for a recent angle.

After Oba Femi retained the NXT North American Title against Tony D’Angelo, the stable leader had hesitation about facing him again. Finally, after some prodding from his family, Tony exploded back at his stable to say that he’s afraid of Oba Femi.

The next week, Adriana Rizzo told Tony that it’s okay to be afraid. Those were very emotional backstage vignettes for the mobster themed faction.

Chris Van Vliet posted a video that compared those D’Angelo Family promos with Rocky III. In the process, he called out the two for being strikingly similar.

In the end, Tony D battled Oba Femi during the October 8 episode of NXT in Saint Louis, and he won the NXT North American Title. This was a happy ending for the Don of NXT in the end, and he is still champion to this day.

Oba Femi got his rematch at Halloween Havoc, but he didn’t win. Since then, he’s been absent from the picture in NXT, with no sign of him. We will have to see when he shows up next.
