Fans of Danhausen, the “very nice, very evil” wrestling star, are still waiting for his return to AEW television, but a recent update from Fightful Select sheds light on his current status. Despite being under AEW contract until summer 2025, creative plans for Danhausen remain non-existent, leaving his future with the company up in the air.
Sean Ross Sapp provided an intriguing update during a Fightful Q&A, responding to a fan’s question about whether AEW plans to bring Danhausen back before his contract ends. Sapp revealed, “There had been some contact between AEW and Danhausen in September, but I’ve not heard of any creative plans. Ultimately, he works there. So if they tell him to come to work, he will. He’s never said or implied otherwise.”
While this suggests Danhausen is open to returning if AEW calls on him, it aligns with earlier reports indicating little movement on bringing the fan-favorite back to TV. AEW previously thought Danhausen was prioritizing indie bookings over his availability for Collision tapings. However, sources close to the star have clarified that family obligations impacted his schedule—a situation he had hoped to revisit with AEW management.
Earlier this year, Bryan Danielson advocated for Danhausen’s return, even pitching ideas to help reignite the quirky grappler’s on-screen presence. Unfortunately, none of those ideas have come to fruition. With limited communication between Danhausen and AEW, his return feels uncertain despite his willingness to step back into the spotlight.
Danhausen’s charismatic persona made him a hit with fans, and his absence has left a noticeable gap. Whether AEW decides to tap into his unique appeal again before his contract ends remains a major question for fans of the “very nice, very evil” star.
