The WWE Universe has been waiting for the ultimate family showdown: Roman Reigns vs. The Rock. While fans were promised this epic clash at WrestleMania 40, it didn’t come to fruition—but the door isn’t shut just yet. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Roman Reigns addressed the possibility of going toe-to-toe with his legendary cousin, leaving fans with renewed hope.

“I think our fanbase and the company’s proven that if our fans are loud enough and passionate enough about something, we’re a company who—we’re not being dictated to,” Reigns said. “We have a vision for where we’re trying to go, but we know who the consumers are. We know who’s paying their hard-earned money, and we want to satisfy those people.”

Reigns emphasized that The Rock’s legacy within WWE makes him a key player in any potential match. “And Dwayne’s always going to be in that role. That’s why he’s a part of the board and a part of everything the way he is, because we’re at an unprecedented time right now. Business is great, and we just want to continue to push things up,” Reigns added. “If that’s what the people want and The People’s Champ is down, I’m sure we can make something happen.”

WrestleMania 40 didn’t feature the one-on-one bout, but fans did get a taste of the duo in action. Reigns and The Rock teamed up to battle Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania. On Night 2, Rhodes shocked the world by dethroning Reigns as the Undisputed WWE Champion.
