Roman Reigns and CM Punk aren’t really close friends, which is why it was a big surprise when Punk was announced as the 5th member of the original Bloodline for Survivor Series. Fans were curious about Roman Reigns’ reaction to Punk joining his team and he has now finally addressed the same.

While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Roman Reigns addressed CM Punk joining his team for WarGames. Reigns stated that he feels lucky and thankful to share the ring with family and some faces like CM Punk, Sami Zayn, and Paul Heyman. He then described Punk’s addition as surprising, comparing it to someone showing up at an event unexpectedly and wondering how they got there.

“I’m very blessed and very fortunate and grateful to be able to share the ring and have all our family in there together. It’s pretty neat, and then you know to add some of the personalities that we have added. CM Punk, Sami Zayn, even Paul. These are outside figures who are working in some way closer than others. I look at Paul like chosen family. Sami’s one of those guys that just slowly but surely endeared himself in. And then Punk is like this crazy. How did this even happen? Who are you here with? What I mean, like, checking the guest list… hold on, how did you get in here?'”

Reigns and Punk have a history from 2013-2014 when Reigns was part of The Shield. The two faced off several times before Punk left WWE in early 2014. This happened long before Reigns became a major singles star, making their team-up in 2024 a big deal for fans as both are the top acts in the company right now.
