Christopher Watts, who has been a key figure behind WWE’s production magic for nearly two decades, is opening up about what makes the global wrestling powerhouse tick. In a new interview with Nathan Grissom, Watts didn’t hold back his admiration for WWE’s innovative spirit, crediting the company for staying ahead of the curve and embracing cutting-edge ideas.

“What I like about WWE is that they’re a very forward-thinking company, especially recently with the new people that are there,” Watts revealed. “They very much have their eyes on the new technology, where can we push things forward. They’ll even ask other employees, ‘Hey, if you see something that you find interesting that we’re not doing, let us know.’”

Watts highlighted WWE’s use of augmented reality (AR) graphics as a standout example. “That AR technology where wrestlers would come out, they would have these AR graphics in the arena where the camera’s moving but the graphics kind of move with it. I remember that was a big deal of the new production elements.”

He also shared that the company has explored AI technology, stating, “There’s been conversations about how can AI be utilized at this company or is that something that even we want to have the ability to have, what’s the ramifications of doing AI.”

Beyond tech, Watts praised WWE’s increasing focus on international markets. “When I first started there, international actually wasn’t that big of a deal for them,” he admitted. “But probably within three or four months of being there, they realized these international markets are huge. There’s a lot of money to be made there and a huge fan base outside of the United States, and they started expanding their whole international department.”

With WWE constantly innovating in tech and expanding its global footprint, it’s clear why the company remains a juggernaut in the entertainment world. Watts summed it up perfectly: “WWE is very good about like, we want to stay ahead technology-wise, we want to know what’s going on, and we want to experiment with things. And look, if things work, great. If they don’t, they don’t.”

With WWE constantly pushing boundaries in technology and expanding its reach internationally, it’s no wonder the company has maintained its status as a global entertainment giant. Christopher Watts’ insights only further highlight how WWE’s commitment to innovation keeps it ahead of the competition. Love it or hate it, WWE’s forward-thinking approach continues to shape the future of the industry.
