Ricky Starks has remained absent from AEW television since the March 30 episode of AEW Collision and there is no indication he will be back anytime soon. During his hiatus, Starks has now vented frustration over his loss of momentum.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Ricky Starks talked about his current absence, pointing out that he has been at home since his match against Top Flight back in March. He mentioned having a stinger in that match but immediately received medical attention.

“March was my last match, I’ve been home, health, never been injured. I did have a stinger in that match against Top Flight in March and got immediately checked out and everything was fine. That happened and then I’m just home. That’s kinda where it’s been at, I’m just home.

The Absolute admitted that it has been frustrating for him, especially since he is in the prime of his career. He was riding a wave of momentum and doing a lot of good things, but suddenly being at home for so long really threw him off. Starks noted that he is not meant to be a homebody at this stage in his life and he is not used to just sitting at home after working so hard for the past 13 years.

“It’s a mindf*** because I’m in my prime, and it sucks when you’re on such a momentum, riding the wave and doing stuff, and then to just be at home for so long… it throws you off. No, I’m not meant to be at home, I’m not meant to be a homebody. In this current phase of my life, I’m not meant to be chilling at home and doing not the thing I’ve been busting my ass for the past 13 years.”

Ricky Starks mentioned that while he doesn’t have a clear answer about why he’s been sidelined, he has plenty of theories. However, without any definitive answers, he didn’t want to just speculate or make assumptions. While he would love to know the exact reason, he said that speculation doesn’t do any good and only adds to the frustration

“Beats me, beats me. I could have a thousand theories about what’s really going on. If I don’t have a definitive answer, I can’t just make up an answer for people and just assume. Would I love to know the exact reason? Sure. Do I have speculations about why? Absolutely. But, that does nothing to speak on things that I speculate, there’s nothing for the speculation, so I think it’s a matter of it sucks.”

Despite being off television, Ricky has stayed in shape, worked out, and even kept practicing in the ring. He’s been traveling and keeping up with the things he can control. It’s been tough for him because he feels capable and in good shape, both physically and mentally, and he’s eager to get back to doing what he loves.

I have been working out, staying in shape, being in the ring still. I have been travelling and doing that stuff because that’s still I have in control. It’s such a mindf*** for me because I am capable and I am of sound body and mind.”

In the meantime, Ricky Starks made his in-ring return after five months and defeated Kody Lane at Glory Pro Wrestling on November 24th. Prior to that, he made an appearance at GCW Dream On as well, so he is keeping himself busy no matter what. Many fans empathize with Starks’ frustration as he simply wants to wrestle in AEW and it’s uncertain whether he will wrestle there anytime soon.
