Ricky Starks isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to MJF’s return at AEW Double or Nothing. While MJF made a splash with his dramatic comeback, complete with a leather cutoff jean jacket reminiscent of Triple H’s iconic 2002 Madison Square Garden return, Starks is calling foul, accusing MJF of stealing moves—and style—from wrestling legends.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Starks took aim at MJF for his “hypocrisy,” pointing out that the AEW World Champion had mocked him for supposedly channeling The Rock. Yet, according to Starks, MJF’s own return was a tribute act in itself.

“You know what’s wild about that?” Starks began. “Max says all that stuff about me yet made his return in a leather cutoff jean jacket. How is it that I’m trying to rip off The Rock when every day, he’s cosplaying Triple H? He’s cosplaying Ric Flair, he’s cosplaying Roddy Piper.”

Starks didn’t stop there, hilariously adding that MJF’s return was missing just a few final touches: “The only thing he was missing was the damn ‘You Too’ song. That’s all we were missing, it was a video package of him training and doing the cha cha slide because of his hip. So we needed a montage of him doing the cha cha song.”

MJF even acknowledged receiving Triple H chants during his comeback at Double or Nothing, seemingly embracing the comparison. While fans have been clamoring for another showdown between these two stars, it’s unclear if they’ll meet again given their current trajectories in AEW.

Whether you think MJF’s return was a genius nod to wrestling’s golden era or a blatant copycat move, one thing’s for sure—AEW knows how to keep the drama alive. Ricky Starks’ no-holds-barred callout is just the latest spark in a rivalry that fans can’t get enough of. Love him or hate him, MJF continues to dominate headlines, and if these two ever step into the ring again, expect fireworks.
