Ricky Starks is a talented wrestler in his own right but many people have compared Ricky Starks to The Rock and even accused him of ripping off The Great One. Starks has now set the record straight on these accusations and clarified his stance.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Ricky Starks was asked about those accusing him of ripping off The Rock. Starks stated that he doesn’t think about the comparisons much and while he admitted The Rock was one of his favorite wrestlers, Starks made it clear that his style is his own.

The former FTW Champion said that he can’t help how he looks, calling himself a “handsome” person, and that his fashion choices are just his preferences. He made it clear that there’s no intention to rip off anyone, and if he were doing that, he would just admit it. Starks also mentioned that his style is influenced by New Orleans, stating that if he were to copy anyone, it would be the city itself.

“I haven’t given it much thought. Um, I think it’s pretty well known who my favorite wrestler was. The Rock was cool, I like The Rock, but this is how I do it. I can’t help the way I look. I’m a handsome mother and that’s how it is and it’s a respectable thing. My style, I like what I like and I wear what I like. There’s nothing to do with ripping someone off and I’d be honest if I was doing that. I am an improvement on a design straight from New Orleans. If you had to say I copy someone, I copied the city of New Orleans. That’s who I am.”

Starks previously claimed that The Rock took inspiration from him for an outfit on WWE television. Nevertheless, Starks’ confident attitude shows that he’s comfortable with who he is and doesn’t feel the need to copy the past, even though his persona naturally draws comparisons to wrestling legends.
