Adam Cole has been part of the wrestling business for a long time now, but he’s a true fan at heart. In fact, Cole has now revealed that he chose Mysterio vs. Randy Orton over a high school romance.

While speaking to Q101, Adam Cole told a funny story about choosing wrestling over romance when he was in high school. He explained that his best friend was hanging out with his girlfriend, who brought a friend who liked Adam Cole.

While the couple cuddled on another couch, Adam Cole was focused on watching a DVD of Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton from No Way Out 2006, despite the fact that he had already seen the match live.

When the girl tried to kiss him, Adam Cole stopped her and said he needed to watch the match. For him, wrestling was more important than anything else at that moment, showing just how much of a fan he really is.

“It’s 100% true, 100% true. Sure, sure. Actually, it never even got to the kissing portion—it never even happened. So, what happened was, I was in high school, like a freshman or sophomore at the time. My best friend was there, and he had a girl he really liked. They were dating at the time, and the girl brought a friend who thought I was very cute.

We were all hanging out. Those two were smooching on the other couch, but we had No Way Out—Rey Mysterio versus Randy Orton—on. By the way, I was at that show! I’d already seen the match, but I wanted to watch it on DVD. “She was trying to kiss me, and I said, ‘Hey, listen, not right now—I’ve got to watch Rey Mysterio versus Randy Orton.’ I was dedicated, my friend. Dedicated!”

This simply goes to show Adam Cole had his priorities figured out when he was in high school. In the meantime, Cole is determined to get his hands on MJF in the future following his AEW Full Gear setback, so fans are eagerly waiting to see what’s next in store for Cole.
