Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XII went down at the White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, New Jersey. That event has been known to feature talent from WWE after Triple H loosened up the reins on his Superstars, and this edition was no different. After Karmen Petrovic’s impressive win, it was Charlie Dempsey’s turn after that.
Charlie Dempsey and his opponent, Tracy Williams, took things to the mat and tried to out-wrestle each other. There was an exchange of submission holds including a triangle, stretch muffler, a toe hold, and many more as they moved seamlessly from one move to another. In the end, Williams submitted to an armbar.
Charlie Dempsey walked into Bloodsport with a 1-1 record, and he wanted to add another win. He made a strong debut at Bloodsport X, with a victory against Matt Makowski. However, at Bloodsport XI, Dempsey suffered a tough loss to Royce Isaacs.
Fans were on fire for this match, as “NXT” chants rang out during the contest. This is yet another opportunity for these NXT Superstars to perform in a different arena, which is what the company wants as they add to their experience.
Akira vs. Charlie Dempsey was scheduled for this Bloodsport event. The NXT stand-out, and son of William Regal, was all ready to take on Akira in a worked shoot, but that didn’t happen.
It was reported in the afternoon prior to Bloodsport XII that Akira was pulled from the show. That was a big shock, but it also left an opening for Charlie Dempsey’s opponent. After all, there are likely to be several people who would love to step in the ring with the NXT Superstar. “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams announced that he would replace Akira, but he only had a few hours to prepare for the match.
