AEW Full Gear 2024 finally arrived and took over the Prudential Center in Newark, but the AEW Women’s World Title was not defended on the show. Instead, Mariah May had other plans for the pay-per-view, but her big celebration ended in tragedy for the champion.
Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa’s AEW Women’s Championship celebration was certainly a highlight for the New Jersey pay-per-view. This celebration had been teased for a while since May beat Toni Storm for the title at All In 2024.
Mina Shirakawa returned to AEW television and immediately linked up with her old friend, Mariah May. The heelish pair have been inseparable since then, and the championship Champaign celebration was finally booked. In another interesting note, Toni Storm “retired” from pro wrestling in that period of time.
Mariah May came out to make it clear how happy she is to “step on” and “kill” the entire AEW Women’s Division over the last four months. Then, Mina got Champagne ready for Mariah, and they linked arms before taking a toast to Mariah May as champion.
They started celebrating with a dance before May tried to hit Mina with a Champagne glass, but Mina ducked and kicked the glass out of her hands before spearing Mariah May off the entrance ramp and through a table.
